Most authentic fried rice I've found so far in this part of ca. Most places can't make real fried rice to save their lives. This place is old and not fancy but prices are good and my experiences too.

Love this place the #9 and the David special are amazing. Not fancy but good food and David is so sweet. My mother brought me here when i was a kid and I am still coming back.

Best chow mein noodles I had in all Modesto area so far! Fast quick service & very friendly staff although they can give bigger portions for ur money but nonetheless very good in taste ...

I love this place! Food is always great and the service is excellent. We make big orders to go for such a little resteraunt and they are always quick to get it made and are very accommodating with add on orders.

Awesome staff, magnificent food, great prices, and I have not been disappointed once in over 30 yrs of eating here. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT AT LEAST ONE TIME PEOPLES! It is sooo worth it. These folks are beautiful. A delight in customer care. Fantastic food. Veg. Beef, Garlic or Orange Chicken are to die for. Pot stickers and chicken in foil are yummy! Give em' a call and get your order on! Yum yum now I want some!

When I heard that the property owner had passed, the kids took over and immediately RAISED everyone's rent in these difficult times, I wondered who would be the first to go? After over 30 plus years I am sorry to see China Gate is now GONE!!! Garlic Chicken is NO MORE!!!!! To Bono and your wife, you were some of the kindest people and you will be missed.

Still the best chinese cuisine. Been going here for over 25 years. The garlic chicken is a delicious dish and the red pork ribs are absolutely a must have with every order. Authentic tastes and flavors!!!

Something has happened here. A death maybe. It's tepidly hot with Stevie Nicks singing her regretful love songs of heart break. No, wait - it's Boy George now - Where once Brooke Shields was blinded for a matter of days from the many flashbulbs of the staff here that paparazzied her one day of which must have been in the late 70's when Stevie Nicks could have been live on the radio. But that is just what befalls someone that insists on conditioning her eyebrows every day. My endless love. Which you can see strewn across the walls - that one fateful night. I took nearly ten minutes to convince the person that took my order that I wanted sweet and sour chicken chow mein and fried rice. Where I went wrong was listening to my instincts and ordering two large ice teas because I knew that so very soon I would be caught in an ice tea crisis and that getting a refill was going to be difficult. At least as difficult as it was as getting to combination number 15 on the menu pressed under the glass surrounded by an equally historically rich array of business cards. Perhaps the confusion came from the two large ice teas. She couldn't seem to believe when all was said and done that I was not ordering a separate meal to go with the second ice tea. the only reason it was an additional five minutes of a verbal back and forth at the counter was that she must have succumbed to the assumption that I was waiting on a person of the opposite sex and that perhaps it was like a first date and I did not want to order for her - so within what at least seemed to be half an hour I was escorted to a table that was two steps from me in front of the counter and not quite under the fan that would have at least brought the temerature down to the high 80's - but the air conditioner kicked in within the next ten minutes - then they came with the soy sauce, napkins and two large ice teas on a waiter tray. She sat them down as though there were going to be two people there. My refill after the second ice tea was timely and ideal - good choice in the ordering, despite these people wondering if I had been stood up - The food was generous and more magnificant than I can ever remember it being before. Next time I think I will order 3 large ice teas - just to see their reaction.
